Quinoa & Brown Rice Breakfast Bowl
This breakfast bowl is packed with lots of protein and super nutrition. It is a nice option for a gluten free cereal. A great start for anyone's day! Since brown rice takes more time to cook than most of us have in the morning, I usually make this breakfast when I have left over brown rice from the day before. My favorite is sprouted brown rice. It actually cooks faster than regular brown rice and provides more digestable nutrients. You can cook the quinoa the night before but I find it doesn't take long to cook in the morning, about 10 minutes.
Quinoa & Brown Rice Breakfast Bowl
Serves 1
1/2 cup cooked sprouted brown rice (or rice of your choice)
1/3 cup cooked quinoa
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
1/8 t. ground nutmeg
Non dairy milk (my preference is Almond or Flaxseed)
Toppings:
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries, thawed or
1/2 cup chopped apples
2 t. ground flaxseed meal
2 t. hemp seeds
2 T. chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts or almonds
Drizzle of pure maple syrup
In a bowl, mix together the sprouted brown rice, quinoa, cinnamon, nutmeg and non dairy milk. If you prefer this as a warm cereal you can heat it in a saucepan or microwave before adding the toppings.
Add toppings. Enjoy!

I've been buying a package of sprouted brown rice (Hinode) but it is nice to also know how to make it. If I was cooking for a family, the bag of Hinode would be to expensive.
