Frothy Energy Blend
When I start feeling like I need a 'pick me up' drink this is one of my powerhouse blends. I often like it for a quick breakfast. It is packed with minerals, very high in potassium, iron, B vitamins and fiber. Because of the brand of brewer's yeast I use it is also high in vitamin B 12 which is an important supplement for vegetarians and vegans. Just the mention of brewer's yeast I am sure sent a few of you running away. This frothy drink blend does not taste like brewer's yeast. I made this for my husband and he didn't even know it had brewer's yeast in it. One tablespoon is not noticeable but if I had put 2 tablespoons I am sure he would have noticed :-) This drink is sweet, delicious and satisfy's like a glass of chocolate milk.

Frothy Energy Blend
serves 1
1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 T. golden or brown flaxseed meal
1 T. brewer's yeast (Twinlab is brand I used)
1 T. unsulphured or blackstrap molasses*
Blend until ingredients are combined. That's it!
Variations:
- add 1/2 cup fruit like frozen mango chunks, strawberries, mixed berries or a small banana. If you add fruit you may want to eliminate the molasses as the fruit adds a lot of sweetness.
- add 1 T. unsweetened cocoa powder (or cocoa powder + banana) You increase potassium with both of these options.
- add 1 tsp. pure vanilla or use vanilla almond milk. Other non-dairy milks can also be used.
*If you can get organic unsulphured blackstrap molasses that would be the healthiest choice. Second best would be unsulphured molasses.
